Little Deities Exhibition, Melbourne

Whilst the exhibition ended several weeks ago I thought i would post some pics from the Little Deities exhibition that was curated by Daniel Atkinson; a good mate of ours. Whilst ashamedly we couldn’t make it to the opening night, we made sure to check out the exhibition before it closed. Asking one self what is worthy of worship is a question best left up to the contributing artists. With so many gods on offer one can really shop around. Whilst indeed some had better accessories than others I was very excited to find the god of good times; I cannot tell you how long I have been looking for a God who understands whats really important. Congrats again Dan & Simone, cant wait to see what you guys do next.

I came across these quirky wooden toys at Exhibit on the weekend. I love, love, love the colours combined with the geometric pattern. If anyone knows who designed these little guys please let me know, I would love to find out as they don’t have any labeling. Whilst i promised not to buy anything for the house until we finish the renovation I simply couldn’t pass up this little pair.

Melbourne Open House

Over a week ago I was having lunch when an email came through from the organizers of Melbourne Open House. It had a sweet and short message advising me that i had won their annual photography competition in the category of people & crowds. Rather chuffed and excited I took it as a small sign to not give up on this dream and keep actively learning everything there is to know about photography. With New York now upon me expectations are high of-course but I have time to practice and practice. It’s nice to be surprised from time to time.

My New Favourite Bookstore

Pop into Paperback Books on the top end of Bourke Street to delve into an independent, general bookshop that was established in the early 1960s and discover paperback editions of books not commonly available in Melbourne. The late night opening hours are very favourable.

‘Round about midnight

Late on a Saturday night with the streets filling for a busy night ahead we walked and stopped to take notice of a city overlooked at night. No clubs, no bars, just street lights and the welcoming Mess Hall. With ‘round about midnight running through my head and an awaited tiramisu with my coffee i couldn’t help but think about all the great cities in the world and what makes Melbourne such a loved city. I’ve been watching a documentary on the history of New York and it explains how a city is shaped by it’s people and is there ultimately to bring it’s people together. So as i plan to visit New York city for the first time i think of Melbourne and where it will be in the future and what we can do now to shape this great city. Lots for me to ponder. New York City I’m counting down the days …

Global Gangway is a zine I created back in 1996. I came up with the name after traveling on the last carriage home and it has stayed with me since. There is something so symbolic about train travel that reminds me to never stop exploring. With my Dad's help in the dark room I found a few perfect frames for the first edition. 15 years later my journey continues.
